Sad Wings of Destiny’s elements all work together in perfection, and without knowing it back then, Judas Priest created an uncanny masterpiece of heavy metal, an album that all metal bands that were to follow would be influenced by. It has aged particularly well, and lost none of its strengh since 1976. Sadly though, it has been forgotten, partly due to it not being remastered (Priest only signed to a major record label after this album and lost the rights), but that should not mean anything. Every metal fan must have this in their collection. Forget Painkiller. Forget Screaming for Vengeance.This is Judas Priest’s greatest achievement, and they will never top it.

Hard Rock 사운드를 들려주던 데뷔작 "Rocka Rolla"에서 프로그레시브 한 악곡으로의 변화를 꾀한 두 번째 정규작 "Sad Wings of Destiny" 앨범이다. 사운드 퀄리티, 곡 구성력 등에서 월등한 업그레이드를 이루었으며 드러머를 "Alan Moore"로 교체하면서 보다 안정적인 리듬 섹션을 구현해내었다. Judas Priest 전성기 시절의 사운드에 비해 이질적인 부분이 많지만, 본작이 지니고 있는 음악적 완성도는 상당한 것으로 밴드 초기를 언급할 때 반드시 거론된다. 곡 작업에 Glenn Tipton의 본격적인 가세로 보다 풍성한 트윈 기타의 묘미를 살리게 되었다. 변화무쌍한 악곡 전개와 음울한 분위기를 지닌 격렬한 Progressive Hard Rock 사운드이다. 락 음악 팬들의 높은 지지와 함께 메이저 레이블 CBS에 입성하게 된다.

아직 헤비메탈이라 불리우기 힘든 메탈갓의 2집, 개인적으로 Screaming For Vengeance 부터의 주다스 음악을 좋아해서인지 그다지 끌리지 않는다, 사운드가 구멍이 숭숭뚫려있고, 가볍다, 감미로운 주다스라니, 이상하다,
