베스트 앨범인 "Metal Works" 앨범 속지에서의 멤버들의 이야기에 의하면 "Turbo" 앨범과 본작 "Ram It Down"은 거의 동시에 만들어졌다고 한다. 비교적 상업적인 곡들로 채운 것이 "Turbo" 앨범이며 그 외 헤비한 곡들로 구성한 것이 "Ram It Down" 앨범으로 전자음 등 전작의 잔재가 다소 남아 있다. 지금까지의 Judas Priest 디스코그라피 중 가장 파워가 넘치는 사운드를 들려주고 있으나 Heavy Metal과 NWOBHM의 기세가 한층 꺾인 시기에 발표되어 큰 주목을 받지는 못했다. 하이템포의 메틀넘버 "Ram It Down", 비장미 넘치는 "Blood Red Skies" 등에서 주다스 프리스트의 지칠 줄 모르는 투혼과 환상적인 완성도를 접할 수 있다. 본작의 파워풀한 사운드는 "Painkiller" 앨범에서 더욱 구체화된다. "Unleashed in the East" 앨범부터 이어온 Tom Allom이 역시 프로듀서를 맡고 있다.
