90년대 초반은 Helloween에게 있어 쓰라린 나날의 연속이었다. 이들이 구축한 철옹성과도 같은 사운드를 스스로 깨부수며 크나큰 변화를 꾀한 Pink Bubbles Go Ape와 Chameleon 앨범으로 악평을 거듭한데다, Helloween의 상징적인 존재감을 지녔던 Michael Kiske와 전율적인 드러밍을 들려주던 Ingo Schwichtenberg의 잇다른 탈퇴로 밴드의 앞날에 먹구름이 잔뜩 꼈다. Pink Cream 69 출신의 보컬리스트 Andi Deris와 Gamma Ray 출신의 드러머 Uli Kusch를 새로운 식구로 맞이하여 발표한 여섯 번째 정규 스튜디오 앨범 Master Of The Rings 으로, 근 6년만에 이들이 재창한 사운드로의 회귀를 알렸다. Andi Deris 가입 이후의 작품중 가장 투명한 색채의 음악을 담고 있다고 생각된다.
