1992년 결성되어 94년 셀프타이틀 데뷔작을 발표한 이후, Symphony X 의 통산 여섯 번째 스튜디오 정규작에 해당하는 The Odyssey 앨범이다. 미학적 프로그레시브의 절정을 들려주었던 V 앨범에 비해 산만한 느낌이 들기는 하지만 전작의 대담한 구도를 계승해 또 다른 명반을 완성시켰다고 평가받는다. 드라마틱한 음율을 지닌 Accolade ll, 그리스 신화의 영웅 Odysseus의 귀향과 험난한 모험을 그린 24분의 대작 The Odyssey등을 담고 있다.
