Axl Rose, Duff "Rose" Mckagan 등을 중심으로 결성된 Guns N' Roses의 데뷔작으로 세계적으로 2,000만 장 이상 팔려나가는 등 엄청난 히트를 기록하였다. 70년대 하드락 연주를 적극적으로 도입하여 복고 흐름을 주도하였으며, 밴드는 이미 이 앨범에서 얼터너티브 락의 스타일을 선보이고 있다. 빌보드 싱글차트를 점령한 명곡인 "Sweet Child O' Mine"와 "Welcome to the Jungle", 후반 정열적인 기타솔로가 등장하는 "Nightrain" 등을 담고 있다.
