Bullet For My Valentine은 1998년에 결성한 영국 Bridgend, Wales 출신 메탈코어 밴드. Bullet For My Valentine은 처음 Jeff Killed John라는 밴드명에 Matthew Tuck, Michael "Padge" Paget, Nick Crandle, Michael "Moose" Thomas의 라인업으로 출발했다. 이때 이들은 Bridgend College에서 음악을 배우는 학생이었고 Korn, Limp Bizkit 같은 Nu Metal을 지향했다. 2003년, 이들의 EP가 나올즈음 베이스 Nick Crandle가 나가고 Jason James가 대신 들어온다. 그 후 밴드는 Bullet for My Valentine으로 밴드명을 바꾸고 스래쉬 메탈 연주에 하모니 기타와 클린보컬 후렴의 사운드를 추구하기로 결심한다. 그리고 나서 이들은 Roadrunner Records의 관심을 거절하고 Sony BMG와 계약하고 이들의 첫 셀프타이틀 EP를 발매한다.
