Recorded/mixed at Coast Recorders, San Francisco, B.C. Studios, Brooklyn, Plastikville Studios, N.Y.C.
Track 4 and 7 recorded live at Astoria 2, London and Slaughterhouse, Bremen.
Tracks 6 recorded at VPRO Radio, Amsterdam. The session at VPRO was recorded on December 14, 1994. During that session also the songs "I See Them All Lined Up", "My Buried Child " (which appears on "I Am The Sun" 7") and "She Lives!" were recorded (all acoustic versions).
The material comprising this CD was rearranged, collaged, cut-up, EQed, mastered etc. at Griffin Mastering, Atlanta, GA.

Die Tür ist zu (German for The Door Is Closed) was released in 1996, exclusively in Germany.

The EP contains early, German-language versions of two songs from the then to-be-released Soundtracks For The Blind album, two studio outtakes ("Surrogate Drones" also to appear on Soundtracks For The Blind, and "You Know Everything (reprise 1991)" originally recorded for White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity, in a version already released on the Celebrity Lifestyle · Mother / Father CD single), as well as 3 live songs: "M/F", recorded at VPRO Radio, December 14, 1994, "Soundsection" and "YRP", both recorded live at the Astoria in London, sometime in 1995.

The all acoustic session at VPRO also included the songs "I See Them All Lined Up", "My Buried Child" (which appears on the I Am The Sun and Sacrificial Cake) and "She Lives!".

Die Tür ist zu saw its first reissue and its first vinyl treatment in 2018, initially as a US exclusive release for Record Store Day, with a European release scheduled for later the same year, to coincide with the first vinyl reissue of Soundtracks For The Blind.
