최고의 명그룹 Rainbow와 Black Sabbath에서 보컬을 역임한 Ronnie James Dio가 자신의 밴드인 Dio를 조직하여 완성한 역사적인 데뷔작 "Holy Diver" 앨범이다. 흉성의 대가로 불리는 디오의 파워풀하고 중후한 창법과 Vivian Campbell의 날카롭게 작열하는 기타 연주로 80년대 헤비메틀계의 한 페이지를 화려하게 장식하였다. 락 음악 역사상 최고의 데뷔 앨범으로 손꼽히는 명반이다. 비장감 넘치는 보컬라인을 지닌 디오 최고의 명곡 "Holy Diver", 신비스럽고 흥겨운 느낌을 주는 "Rainbow in the Dark", 뛰어난 명연을 담고 있는 "Don't Talk to Strangers" 등이 앨범 최고의 트랙이다. 디오 자신이 모든 곡을 썼으며 직접 프로듀싱하였다.
