Def Leppard의 최대 히트작 "Hysteria" 앨범이 다분히 팝적인 느낌의 소프트한 곡들이 주류를 이루는 것에 비하여, 전작이자 세 번째 앨범인 "Pyromania"는 로큰롤의 열기가 느껴지는 격정적인 곡들이 전체를 지배한다. 개인적으로 가장 좋아하는 이들의 앨범이기도 한데, 한 곡도 버릴게 없다는 말은 본작을 두고 하는 말이다. 당시엔 찾아보기 힘들었던 풍부한 코러스 라인은 밴드의 음악을 Pop/Glam Metal로 부르게 되는 결정적인 요소이지만, 깔끔한 이미지 메이킹으로도 한몫 톡톡히 한다. 밝고 경쾌하며 시원스러운 곡 전개로 폭넓은 사랑을 받았다. 환상적인 코러스 라인이 점입가경을 이루는 "Rock of Ages" 등을 수록하고 있다.
