Covenant는 Nagash와 Blackheart에 의해 결성된 프로젝트 밴드로 1994년 데모 앨범과 1997년 정규 데뷔작을 내놓았다. 이어 발표한 두 번째 앨범이 본작 "Nexus Polaris" 앨범으로, 1998년 한해 최고의 Symphonic Black Metal 앨범 중 하나로 기억된 작품이다. Mayhem의 Hellhammer, Arcturus의 Sverd 등 초호화 멤버들이 가세하여 완성한 본 앨범은 미디엄 템포의 곡들이 주를 이루고 있으며, 초기의 원시적이고 기계적인 블랙메탈 사운드와는 대비되는 짜임새 있는 구성과 적절한 멜로디 라인을 구사하고 있다. 이후에 The Kovenant로 개명하고 일렉트로닉의 느낌이 가미된 음악을 들려준다.
